Wireless Networking
The transition from a world connected by wires and cables to a world where wires are hardly needed to run a computer or access the internet is still happening. Though it's not new, wireless technology is slowly dominating the way that we use computers, cell phones, and personal organizers. Schools are improved by taking computer research and learning outside of a crowded computer lab, and into a larger space. Lake Highland Preparatory School just recently "went wireless" with their library, making it possible for students to not just use the computer lab, but rent out laptops so that students can research and write papers in other areas of the library as well.
"Oh, they [the students] love it. It's reduced some of the traffic and problems in the main computer lab. It's a full-time job, though. You've got to make sure they're [the laptops] are all charged for everyone. Other than that, they're fantastic."

This quote comes from one of Lake Highland's two main librarians, Mrs. Butler. She handles the laptops, renting them out to students for the time allotment of one class period. A Lake Highland freshman, Alex Barrett, feels the same way. "I think that wireless technology will revolutionize the way that students can do work on campus. It's really convenient to be able to sit anywhere in the library and be able to type up and print a report, or search the web for information."

Obviously the move into a wireless world is a good one. With new technology developing everyday, it's only a matter of time before accessing anything in the world at the click of a button.
